Dr. David Walls is set to Retire After 46 Years of Service

Today the Lake Almanor Clinic Announces the retirement of Dr. David Walls. Seneca Healthcare District (SHD) is happy to support Doctor Walls as he takes a step towards his next phase of life. SHD and the community will miss him greatly and will always appreciate the work he has done for so many, and the legacy he leaves behind. “Dr. David Wall’s has been a generational cornerstone of health in the basin for many years. He has been a dedicated provider, and after years of caring for others, it is time he looked after himself!” said Shawn McKenzie, CEO of SHD.

“I am honored to have been trusted with the healthcare of so many throughout my career,” said Walls.

Dr. Walls began his career as a community doctor in 1976. He has delivered babies, ran a private medical practice, and a Seneca clinical medical practice –working throughout various departments in the hospital including ER, Long Term Care, and Acute Care. Most recently he has worked for Seneca as a Primary Care Provider, while regularly making rounds in Long Term Care.

“It has been a privilege to work with Dr. Walls throughout the years,” said Jessica Gorbet, Clinic Manager at Seneca. Jessica said Dr. Walls was one of the first doctors she worked with when she started her career as a nurse at Seneca Healthcare District.

Marian Thompson, Medical Receptionist at Seneca Healthcare District, has worked with Dr Walls on and off for the past 26 years. She said, “He is a truly wonderful provider who deeply cares for his patients and their well-being.” She has thoroughly enjoyed working with him and will miss his sense of humor, care, and devotion to all the patients, the hospital, and the community. He has not only been her boss but has become like family to her, caring for her and her family over the years. She said, “Although I will miss working with him, I am glad he is going to take time for himself, his family, and is finally going to enjoy retirement!”

Dr. Walls has played a significant role in the Lake Almanor Area, with many in the community having long-term connections with him. He has helped provide medical care to multiple generations and holds a special place in the hearts of the community members.

“I have cherished the relationships that I have had over several generations with families and will miss watching each new generation as they grow,” said Walls.

Dr. David Walls will be helping to turn the dirt at the New Hospital Groundbreaking Ceremony on Wednesday, July 26th, 2023, at 9:00 am. His last day at the clinic will be on August 29th, 2023. Registration staff in the clinic can help patients with discussing options for transferring or scheduling with an available provider.
