Seneca Healthcare District is an in-network community provider.

If a Veteran would like to schedule an appointment with our clinic, please contact your VA Provider for a referral to authorize the Veteran to receive care from us.

  • An authorization/referral is usually valid for 6 months to one year. Referral timeframe is based on service(s) approved with some less than 6 months.
  • The Veteran must renew when an authorization is expired.

  • Authorization is not required for urgent care through the Emergency Department at Seneca Hospital.

Under the VA MISSION Act, it is easier for eligible Veterans to find a community provider. After a Veteran is determined to need treatment and found eligible for community care, he or she will generally have the option of choosing to receive care from a VA medical facility or community provider. Seneca Healthcare District is a community provider. Veterans are able to seek care at the Lake Almanor Clinic, before scheduling an appointment, Veterans should confirm with a VA staff member that they are eligible for and authorized to receive community care.

Referrals

VA will send a referral to the Veteran and to the selected community provider.

The VA referral is important because it authorizes the Veteran to receive care from the community provider.

*Note* Without the referral, VA has not authorized and cannot pay for the care in most circumstances.
