Chester, CA – March 21, 2025 – In an exciting initiative aimed at fostering the next generation of healthcare professionals, Seneca Healthcare District (SHD) is proud to announce our Student Career Development Program, offering Chester High School students an exclusive opportunity to explore various healthcare careers firsthand. This progressive program enables students to rotate through multiple departments, gaining tangible experience and insights into the diverse roles within the healthcare industry.
This nine-week program, coordinated by Seneca’s HR director, began this month and includes participating students from local high schools who are shadowing healthcare professionals in a wide range of specialties, including nursing, ER, Acute Care, SNF, Surgery, Clinic, Radiology and support staff areas including Information Technology, Health Information Management and Administration. By engaging directly with Seneca staff, students are gaining invaluable exposure to the inner workings of Seneca Healthcare District while developing a deeper understanding of the skills and dedication required for various careers in healthcare.
“We are thrilled to open Seneca Healthcare District to these bright young students,” said Shanna Roelofsen, Human Resource Director of SHD. “Our goal is to inspire the next generation of healthcare workers and provide them with hands-on experience that will help them make decisions about their future careers. Throughout their rotations, students will participate in interactive learning sessions, attend career workshops, and engage in real-world tasks, guided by mentors and professionals within Seneca.
With the implementation of this program, Seneca Healthcare District proves its commitment to providing educational opportunities that bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world experience. By offering students the chance to learn hands-on in our Clinic and Hospital, the Student Career Development Program aims to cultivate a pipeline of future healthcare leaders.
