(Chester CA) – Seneca Healthcare District is proud to announce the resumption of weekly MRI services at Seneca Hospital, providing essential diagnostic imaging to residents of the Lake Almanor Basin and surrounding communities. This renewed service is made possible through a strategic collaboration with four other rural hospitals across Plumas, Modoc, and Shasta Counties.
The newly established Multi-Entity Regional Critical Access Hospital Mobile MRI initiative will serve five critical access hospitals in Northern California, reaching over 20,000 community members. This mobile unit will rotate weekly among the participating hospitals, ensuring consistent access to high-quality imaging services in remote areas.
“MRI is a vital diagnostic tool, especially in rural healthcare settings where access has historically been limited,” said Brady Haynes, Chief Operating Officer of Seneca Healthcare District. “We’re proud to bring this service back to our community and remain committed to expanding access to advanced medical care.”
While this mobile solution provides a reliable option for patients today, the five hospitals are actively working toward the future purchase of a dedicated mobile MRI unit. This investment would allow the hospitals to gain greater control over scheduling and service delivery, reduce long-term costs, and ensure even more dependable access to imaging services managed directly by rural healthcare providers.
The return of MRI services addresses a critical gap in care, especially for patients who previously had to travel long distances or forgo necessary scans due to financial or transportation barriers. By restoring local access, Seneca Healthcare District reaffirms its commitment to delivering compassionate, community-centered care.
