(Chester, CA) — The Seneca Healthcare Foundation (SHF) proudly hosted its Second Annual Golf Tournament on May 29th, 2026, at the scenic Bailey Creek Golf Course, bringing together community members, local businesses, and supporters for a day of camaraderie, generosity, and fun all in support of rural healthcare.  

The sold-out scramble tournament welcomed 144 golfers and attracted nearly $90,000 in community support through sponsorships, registrations, raffles, and donations, demonstrating the region’s strong commitment to the future of local healthcare. Net proceeds from the event will benefit the new community hospital, set to open in spring 2027, as well as the expansion of essential healthcare services for the communities we serve.  

“We are incredibly grateful for the overwhelming support from our sponsors, golfers, volunteers, community members, and our hospital construction partners,” said Chelssa Outland, Executive Director of SHF. “The participation of local businesses, contractors, subcontractors, and community supporters demonstrates a shared investment in the future of healthcare in our region.” 

Participants enjoyed a full day of engaging activities, including: 

  • A scramble-format tournament designed for all skill levels 
  • A tee prize valued at $300 for each golfer 
  • Lunch on the turn 
  • Exciting raffle prizes 
  • Unique on-course experiences, including:  
  • A lively Hole #8 hosted by CEO Shawn McKenzie, complete with entertaining “heckling” 
  • A MAS*H-themed tent at Hole #15 featuring themed beverages and interactive activities 

The energy and enthusiasm carried across the course, with surprises along the way that added to the memorable atmosphere of the day. 

The celebration began the evening prior with an exclusive Sponsor Appreciation Dinner, held in recognition of the tournament’s premier sponsors whose generous support helped make this year’s event a success. Guests enjoyed an exceptional culinary experience prepared by renowned sushi chef Taro Arai of Mikuni Sushi. The evening provided an opportunity for sponsors, community leaders, hospital partners, and Foundation supporters to connect and celebrate the shared commitment to advancing healthcare in our region. The Seneca Healthcare Foundation is deeply grateful for the contributions of all tournament sponsors, whose partnership and generosity play a vital role in supporting the Foundation’s mission, the construction of the new hospital, and the future of local healthcare. 

The Foundation extends heartfelt thanks to the Golf Committee and Foundation team for their planning and execution of this outstanding event, as well as to the staff, board members, and Seneca Auxiliary members who volunteered their time to ensure its success. 

Events like the annual golf tournament play a critical role in raising funds for the new hospital construction and enabling Seneca Healthcare District to introduce new service lines, ensuring residents have access to high-quality care close to home.
