What is a QCD?
A Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) allows individuals aged 70½ or older to donate directly from their IRA to a qualified nonprofit, such as Seneca Healthcare Foundation, without counting the distribution as taxable income.’
Benefits of Giving via QCD
- Tax Advantage: QCDs can satisfy all or part of your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) without increasing your taxable income.
- No Itemization Needed: You receive the tax benefit even if you don’t itemize deductions.

Eligibility
- Must be age 70½ or older at the time of the distribution.
- Must donate from a traditional IRA (not a 401(k), 403(b), or other retirement plan).
- Maximum annual QCD limit is $100,000 per individual.
How to Make a QCD

- Ensure the check is made payable to Seneca Healthcare Foundation, not to you personally.
Important Notes
- QCDs must be completed by December 31 to count for the current tax year.
- Consult your financial advisor or tax professional to confirm eligibility and benefits.
- You cannot receive any goods or services in exchange for a QCD.
Please note that charitable contributions to Seneca Healthcare Foundation, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, are eligible to receive tax-deductible contributions according to Code 170 of the Internal Revenue Code.
